Amy Katz Elected to Board of So What Else
In December of 2020 Curbside Kitchen began a partnership with a local organization that would touch the heartstrings of our CEO, Amy Katz. That organization is So What Else (SWE), headquartered in Rockville, MD.So What Else's mission is to improve the lives of children and families living in underserved communities in the Baltimore-Washington Metro Area by providing food security, access to basic necessities, and high-quality out-of-school time programs in literacy, athletics, and the visual and performing arts while inspiring young people to give back to the community by creating volunteer opportunities for citizens of all ages.SWE feeds about 35k people each week suffering from food insecurity at their various walk-up food pantry locations in MD and DC.
Each month Curbside Kitchen, along with one of our food truck partners, teams up with So What Else to provide HOT meals to supplement their pantry pick-ups. Seeing the lines that form at the food trucks and the smiles from both the recipients and the food truck owners themselves struck a chord with Amy and made her want to get more involved. In April of 2021, she was elected to the SWE Board of Directors.
As part of Amy's commitment to SWE, she will help oversee the upcoming SWE Gala and Food Truck-a-Palooza this coming September.
